Ah, the first month of summer. It is known for prime wedding weather and June sales. It’s the perfect time to stock up on things we’ll need long after the summer season ends, soak in the sun, sip on some iced tea, and celebrate June.
1. Kick off June sales with National Donut Day on Friday, June 2.
National Donut Day is always the first Friday in June. So in 2023 expect it to happen on June 2. Look for a free Krispy Kreme donut with no strings attached on donut day and a buy one dozen, get a second dozen for $1 deal. This happened in 2022, and we expect to see it again. And just like years past, we expect Dunkin’ Donuts to give away a free donut with every beverage purchase on Donut Day.
2. Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale is predicted to start on June 11, 2023.
The Bath & Body Works Semi-Annual Sale is the queen of June sales. In fact, it’s the event of the season. It always begins in mid-June and runs beyond the Fourth of July. During this time, prices go 75% off, especially in stores. Sale prices are not as good and shipping costs hurt your savings when shopping online. The holy grail is a Bath & Body Works coupon to stack with Semi-Annual sale 75% off prices. To get on the coupon mailing list, create an account online and add your physical address.
3. Victoria’s Secret Semi-Annual Sale starts in mid-June.
One of the best events you’ll score deals at this month is Victoria’s Secret’s Semi-Annual sale which typically starts in June and usually lasts three to four weeks. In 2022 it ran from June 14 to July 18. You’ll find items for as much as 70% off, and the sales get deeper as the month progresses. Other stores like Soma, Frederick’s of Hollywood, Macy’s, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom offer specials during the same time. Don’t forget to stack coupon codes if you’re buying online instead of in store!
4. Chewy’s once-a-year Blue Box Sale on pet supplies takes place June 21 – 25.
For one long weekend, around the third week of June, the Chewy Blue Box Sale takes place. It’s a once-a-year event with 50% off savings on pet food and gear.
5. Celebrate National Iced Tea Month with June sales.
You can also celebrate National Iced Tea Day on June 10 with sales on tea products (bags, mixes, and pre-made). If you find tea for less than $0.75 per box, stock up! Loose tea and powdered tea mix lasts six months to a year in the pantry and one to two years in the freezer, while prepared tea will last three to five days in the fridge and six to eight months in the freezer.
6. National Fishing and Boating Week is during the first week in June.
In 2022 National Fishing and Boating Week took place June 4 –12, and during this time you could take part in a lot of activities, most of them free. But the coolest thing about this week in June are the free fishing days most states offer. Watch for deals on fishing poles and tackle boxes.
7. Score stock-up prices on dairy items during National Dairy Month.
You can expect to see June sales on products like milk, cheese, butter, eggs, yogurt, cream cheese, and whipped cream on sale all month long. And remember — you’ll save more if you choose savings over convenience. For instance, buy block cheese and shred it yourself and opt for the bigger container of yogurt versus individual cups. When you see products this cheap (or cheaper) stock up! You can always freeze for later anything you can’t eat before the expiration date:
8. Stock up on pain relief medicines during National Migraine & Headache Awareness Month.
You’ll find savings on products like aspirin, sinus medications, and painkillers to help you rule your headaches. Know medication lingo so you can buy generic store brands and save 20% – 50% — even more when drugstores offer store coupons and promotions on their own generic lines.Aside from coupons and sales, one of the easiest ways to save on meds is through mail-in rebates. Look for them on manufacturer websites or in-store as a peel-off sticker or hang tag on the item. You can also easily save by downloading rebate apps like Ibotta, Fetch Rewards, and Checkout 51.
9. Get fresh produce delivery or pick your own seasonal produce.
Not only are many fruits and veggies in season, but (surprise!) it’s also National Fruit and Veggie Month.
Produce coupons and extra savings for fresh produce do exist! You’ll find them directly on the manufacturer’s website (try Driscoll’s) and in rebate apps where you’ll discover new cash-back offers weekly for in-season fruits and veggies.
10. Stock up on First Aid kits and supplies, especially if you’re accident-prone and love biking.
Summertime means school’s out and there’s lots of time for kids to get cuts, scrapes, bites, bruises, and sunburns! Thankfully, June is a great month to stock up on first aid supplies like bandages, ointments, gauze pads, and other emergency health essentials. In 2022 Amazon offered large Band-Aids for 50% off, and later, Band-Aids with Neosporin for 62% off. Always look through rebate apps for extra savings.
11. Stock up and save on 4th of July staple food items during June sales.
Score great deals on hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, BBQ sauce, ketchup, charcoal, salad dressing, potato chips, dips, mustard and mayo, relish, and soda around the last two weeks of June. In fact, you’ll probably see a lot of freebies around this time by using condiment coupons on top of sale prices. Make sure to stock up throughout the year so you save. See prices this low? Get at least a 3-months’ supply!
Mayo — Stock-up price: $1.99 per 32-ounce bottle; Mustard — Stock-up price: $0.75 – $1.50 per bottle
Ketchup — Stock-up: $0.75 – $0.99 per 24-ounce bottle; BBQ Sauce -Stock-up: $0.50 – $1 per bottle
Soda — Stock-up price: $0.75 per 2-liters; Hamburger or Hot Dog Buns — Stock-up: $0.99 per pack
Hot Dogs — Stock-up price: $0.50 – $1.49 per 8-pack
12. Stock up on popsicles, ice cream, and frozen yogurt (oh my!).
The first official day of summer is June 20, so that’s when you’ll start to see savings on frozen treats like ice cream, popsicles, frozen yogurt, and more. Big-box stores and traditional grocers aren’t the only places that have special promotions, though. Don’t forget to check drugstores too! Stack in-store coupons with manufacturer coupons and sales, and when you see prices as low as $2 for ice cream, stock up to last you through the summer and beyond. Just make sure to store ice cream and popsicles in the back of the freezer where they’ll be exposed to less air and temperature fluctuations.
13. Give the gift of dishes and cookware to the bride-to-be (or to your own home).
Early summer is peak wedding season! Retailers take that opportunity to promote both their fine and everyday china, as well as small appliances and cookware. Whether you’re shopping for a wedding gift or looking to replace your family’s cookware, you’ll find the best savings at Kohl’s, JCPenney, Target, and Macy’s. To save even more, look for sets of dishes and cookware that come with free bonus products.
14. Grab spring clearance items during June.
Once June arrives, retailers are looking to stock shelves for fall, so this month is an excellent time to score some big savings on spring apparel, rain boots, and umbrellas.
Some Items to Skip In June
1. Grills
Summer officially starts in June, which makes it prime time for outdoor grilling. This higher demand means higher prices. Wait for prices to cool off later in the summer. As with most other timely purchases, the further into the season you go, the more you’ll save.
2. High-End Clothing
If you’re a fan of designer clothes, shoes and purses, you’ll want to wait another month before overhauling your wardrobe. Designer clothing sales are typically great in July, in large part due to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. During this once-a-year sale, shoppers can save hundreds on top brands. This year’s sale starts July 17.
3. Wait for Amazon Prime Day
Consider putting products in your Amazon cart in June, but waiting until July to check out. That’s because the retail giant is expected to hold Prime Day in July again this year. The dates are still TBA (the sale was July 12-13 last year), but you can expect deals on Amazon’s own line of Echo electronics and items from big brands and small businesses alike.
